What is plastic recycling and which plastics are recyclable
2023-04-12
Plastic is all around us, and we see and use it every day. Plastic creates litter and environmental pollution, and these effects put people and the environment at risk. Plus, making new plastic can be a waste of resources if you don't manage it properly. Therefore, it makes sense to reuse and reprocess plastics to prevent waste.
Therefore, plastic recycling is an essential process in plastic production.
Plastic recycling is the method of collecting waste plastics and turning them back into new and useful plastic products. Over a trillion pounds of plastic materials are produced and used worldwide. Plastic recycling ensures that large quantities of plastic do not go to waste. Instead, you can rework the material to obtain other products.
Most of the plastics we encounter in our daily lives are recyclable, here are some common types of plastic that can be recycled.
1. PET
PET is a popular thermoplastic. This material is very thin, making it ideal for producing low-voltage products. Clothing fibers and soft drink bottles are popular products made from PET.
2.PVC
PVC is another thermoplastic. It is also one of the most commonly used plastic materials in the world. PVC is used in the production of wires, pipes, bottles and plastic wrap.
3.HDPE
HDPE is also a thermoplastic. It is softer and more flexible than PVC. Examples of products produced by manufacturers using HDPE are gallons and pipes.
4. LPDE
This material is the opposite of HDPE. LPDE is used to make plastic bags. Sometimes it's not easy to recycle this material. Besides recycling, you can also clean them and reuse them for other purposes.
Recycling plastic depends on the type of material. Plastic materials that are not recycled are either destroyed or disposed of in landfills. Still, recycling is the best option for plastic materials.
